    • Recruitment and Selection: The Personnel Unit is responsible for the entire recruitment process for both academic and non-academic staff. This includes advertising vacant positions, shortlisting candidates, organizing interviews, and issuing offer letters, all in line with the university’s policies and NUC (National Universities Commission) guidelines.

    • Staff Records Management: It maintains comprehensive and up-to-date records of all university employees. This includes personal details, qualifications, employment history, performance appraisals, disciplinary records, and other relevant information.

    • Onboarding and Orientation: The unit facilitates the onboarding process for new staff members, ensuring they are properly integrated into the university system and understand their roles, responsibilities, and the university’s culture.

    • Disciplinary Matters and Grievances: The Personnel Unit plays a role in handling disciplinary issues and grievances, ensuring fair and transparent processes in accordance with university regulations and labor laws.

    • Promotion and Appraisal: It manages the annual staff appraisal process and facilitates the promotion of qualified staff members based on established criteria and performance.

    • Salaries and Benefits: While the Bursary Department handles the actual payment, the Personnel Unit often works in conjunction with the Bursary to ensure accurate payroll information, manage staff benefits, and handle deductions.

    • Policy Implementation: It ensures the effective implementation of the university’s human resource policies, rules, and regulations, and advises management on HR-related matters.
